With summer and its unique dangers approaching, the Space and Missile Defense Command focuses on the health and safety of its employees.
The days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are often called the 101 Critical Days of Summer, and the command increases safety awareness in a campaign dedicated to ensuring Soldiers and the civilian workforce have an injury-free summer. The SMDC Safety Office said it is important to be mindful of safety concerns and make smart decisions because summertime activities can provide a greater risk of accidents.
“Summer is the Army’s deadliest time of year, so playing it safe is critical to having a good time,” Randy Joyner, SMDC safety director, said. “With the restrictions from the pandemic relaxing, we are getting out and enjoying the outdoors. However, as we celebrate, it is important that we keep safety in the forefront and continually assess the dangers around us.”
